NY’s Plan To Avert L Train Shutdown Is High-Tech, Innovative, And Untested

Andrew Cuomo (New York Gov.) this week shocked subway commuters when he declared that the projected 15-month close-down of L train tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan (that was scheduled to start April 27, 2019) will rather turn into an untested and high-tech rescue plan. The news might come as a relief to some L train users who were becoming more and more stressed about the looming shutdown. But the fresh plan for repair, in which track work might take place on weekends and nights, might prove to be uniformly difficult seeing it has never been tried in a restoration project for tunnel.

This is a “huge, huge breakthrough,” Cuomo claimed to the media in an interview. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority might employ a new engineering design to keep the tunnel operational and open while it is repaired on weekends and nights, he claimed. “This is the best & shortest route for the tunnel rebuilding,” Cuomo claimed. The governor claimed he discussed with Elon Musk’s Tesla, as well as other innovative experts, in his attempt to come up with a plan to turn away the shutdown.

On a related note, Boring Company of Elon Musk is among the 2 concluding bidders to build, design, operate, and finance an express rail system from O’Hare International Airport of Chicago to downtown region. This data was given by office of the Chicago mayor to the media this week.

“Reinforcing connections between economic engines of Chicago will boost our economy in the upcoming time, pay dividends for upcoming generations, and build on the legacy of innovation of the city,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel claimed to the local media. “Currently, we have two groups that have the capability of getting the job done and make an express link between O’Hare Airport and downtown Chicago without a financial support from taxpayer,” the mayor claimed.
